The Minuteman Monument
In the center of Nottingham, New Hampshire, square is a monument to four officers of the Revolutionary War. It was erected by Else Cilley Chapter DAR on July 4, 1917.
Joseph Cilley (1734-1799), a native of Nottingham, became a major general in the New Hampshire militia. General Thomas Bartlett came to the village in 1765. Henry Dearborn lived in Nottingham and was both a general and a physician. General Henry Butler later became the first postmaster of Nottingham.
