BC Ice age glaciers sufficiently receded northward and the Irish Sea was
still 300 feet lower than, for hunters and gatherers to walk around a
fresh water lake and walk to Antrim from Wales and Scotland. Glaciers
still clung to mountain crevices and in the shaded glens of Antrim for
centuries.

BC - 700 BC begins the Mesolithic followed by the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.
This era ushered in the acquired skills of metal working which made
manufacturing of superior weapons.

Reconstructed Iron Age fort.
