Aaron Walker received letter from Bishop of Clogher, in 1822, stating good status with church, before immigrating to CAN. Second part of family departed around 1856, from Clogher and next appeared in Proton, ON., CAN. All indications were that family resided in or about Clogher, Tyrone, Ireland for over one hundred years before leave for Canada.

Looking for family of John & Mary Peebles. Mary was born approx. 1774. Apparently widowed, Mary and her children Robert, Matthew, Venetia, Isabella, James, Anna, and Matilda emigrated to Canada from the vicinity of Strabane, Co. Tyrone, in 1834, 1837, and 1841. From Mary's obituary in 1866, it appears that not all of her children left Ireland with her. So far have not found any ships that left Ireland in the appropriate years! Thanks for any help. Marg

I'm searching for documentation on the family of Selfridges who lived in Ardstraw, Co. Tyrone, in the very early 1700s. Edward A. Selfridge was born on Nov. 30, 1701, there to William & Agnis Selfridge. Edward came to the U.S., settling in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and later in Pelham, New York. He married Elizabeth, whose surname was either Burns or Brown (a relative of poet Robert Burns). A brother of Edward theoretically emigrated to Pennsylvania. Any help would be sincerely appreciated! I'll be happy to share info.

SOMERVILLE Over the past few years a concerted effort has been going on to establish our family heritage. With great success an ever increasing number of other genealogists have been researching the family of George and Rebecca SOMERVILLE and their family. The first of our SOMERVILLE family to arrive in Australia was Christopher SOMERVILLE however to date we have been unsuccessful in establishing exactly how, although we are fairly certain that he did not fly here! Ongoing research is being conducted to establish on which ship he arrived, any assistance would be welcomed. We feel that it was prior to 1841. Next to arrive were John SOMERVILLE with his sister Ann SOMERVILLE departed Liverpool, England on 4 April 1841 and arrived in Sydney on 21st July, 1841 on board the ship "Helen". John was aged 20 and he could both read and write. Ann was aged 18 and she could both read and write. Both were assisted passengers. Rebecca SOMERVILLEs arrival is to date another mystery to us at this stage and once again any help would be warmly welcomed. Sarah SOMERVILLE departed Plymouth, England on 4th April, 1848 and arrived in Sydney on 19 July 1848 on board "Royal Saxon". She was 20 years old and traveled with a Jane SOMERVILLE aged 23. Both Sarah and Jane were listed as house servants. Sarah could read and write while Jane could do neither. (It should be noted that another Jane Somerville departed Liverpool, England on 3 Nov., 1854 and arrived in Sydney on 12 Feb., 1855 on board "Nabob" we are at this stage unsure which is which). We are sure that one of these two was in fact our Mary Jane SOMERVILLE. Andrew SOMERVILLE departed Plymouth, England on 16 Oct, 1849 and arrived in Sydney on board the ship "Cornwall" on 9th Feb., 1850. He was aged 20 and he could both read and write. James ELKIN and Sidney ELKIN (nee SOMERVILLE) departed Liverpool, England on 12 Sept, 1855 on board "Bee" and arrived in Sydney on 6 Jan, 1856. Also on board with them were the parents of the SOMERVILLE children George and Rebecca SOMERVILLE and their youngest children twins, brother and sister, James SOMERVILLE and Elizabeth SOMERVILLE. George and Rebecca lived in Drumharvey or Loutherstown (sometimes known as Irvinestown) in Co. Tyrone or Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. George was a son of Christopher SOMERVILLE and Ann SOMERVILLE (nee HUMES). Rebecca was a daughter of William CLARKE and Sarah CLARKE (nee EVANS). Ongoing research is currently being conducted in Ireland to attempt to establish further links however it is a difficult task due to the fact that fire destroyed the Public Record office during the troubles. This was not the first time that the SOMERVILLE family had changed countries as the name SOMERVILLE has Scottish roots. A decision must have been made by George and Rebecca to extract the family from their troubled homeland sometime during the Potato Famine and to seek a better life. This decision involved them travelling to Australia (via England) one by one and two by two over a period of some ten years. By the time George and Rebecca had arrived in Sydney some of their children had married and settled in Sydney and the Hunter River area around Raymond Terrace.

Would like direction on how to find cemetery, grave site, markers for Cappagh parish and Omagh area for 1770's+. Looking for parents of Francis Ferugs b. Sept 8, 1752, Co. Tyrone, emigrated to USA in 1770's along with brothers and father, 1 brother stayed with Francis, rest returned to Ireland. I would also like to find out the names of Francis' brothers and sisters. I intend to do a FERGUS webpage when I gather my information as I have 10 generations of US Fergus families in "Fergus History" that I update annually. Also would like to know what was most likely port for Francis to have left from? I assume Derry, but I cannot find any ships records for 1770's from there to Philadelphia. Francis fought in the war in 1776, so by then other family members had returned. He is Scotch-Irish so probably Presbyterian. Help please.

Looking for any info on Father James STEWART (spouse Elizabeth Hemphill) and Son Robert STEWART born ca 1730, immigrated from County Tyrone to Pennsylvania, USA ca 1750. The ship DORCAS (or Dorcas Ann) was boarded by a British Man-o-war during the trip and Robert was imprest into British service until some unknown young lady declared him to be her intended, at which time they finally released him. He then joined his father in Pennsylvania and they eventually relocated in what is now Washington County, Penn. There, Robert married Ann McLough. James reported;y left a brother, Lord Robert Stewart in County Tyrone in a place called Foggy Hill. I have info that James was born in Scotland but left because of being on the wrong side in an uprising and going to County Tyrone. I would like to have any information on the Stewart Family in Ireland, Scotland or anywhere else. I would also like to know where I can get an in-depth map of County Tyrone. I have tried MapQuest on the internet and can't get any closer than Dublin. I was told that Foggy Hill lies outside Dublin about 50 miles. HELP, please.
