Looking for information regarding my grandmother's family. My grandmother was Margaret Kelly born in 1888 Coal Island County of Tyrone. Her father was Lawrence Kelly, a farmer and her mothr was Catherine Christie. Margaret came to Canada somewhere between 1905 and 1910. She married George Hughes formally of Wales and they settled and raised their family in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. About 1954 they went to Ireland for a visit. I'm researching Sterlings who family lore say come from "Boland, Clanfecle, Tyrone Co., Ireland". We're descended from Margary Sterling, who was sister to Hugh Sterling, William Sterling, Israel Sterling, and Elizabeth Sterling in the 1700s. Margary married a Scotch-Irishman, John Watters. Margary's son William Watters (b. 1769) emigrated to the States in the 1790s,married to a Magerete Sterling (b. 1773). Any help is appreciated.

(b. 6/15/1829, possibly in Glasgow) and wife ELIZABETH MATSON (b. 3/20/1831 in Ireland) who lived with children William (b. 1856), James (b. 1861), Robert Jr. (b. 1862), Joseph (b. 1862), Anna (b. 1865), Mary Jane (b. 1868), Margaret "Maggie" (b. 1870-71) and Catherine "Cassie" (b. 1877) in County Tyrone. Robert Sr. and Elizabeth married 1854 in Ireland, possibly in Co. Tyrone. All but last child supposedly born in Co. Tyrone. Of Protestant faith. Emigrated to America 1870-72, via New York. Settled Bartholomew County, Indiana. Family tradition claims relation to famous Howe family of England, who fought for British side in American Revolutionary War. Family tradition claims Robert Sr.'s parents were William and Elizabeth Cox Howe (cannot prove at this time). All help appreciated; will swap whatever info I have on Indiana branch.

Charles SMITH born c.1858 Tyrone (possibly DROMORE) was the son of Ann RITCHIE and William SMITH. He came to Australia in the 1880's with Thomas WILEY, born c. 1862 Drumskinney, Tyrone. Thomas was the son of Robert WILEY and Jane HUNTER. Isabella WYLIE, his sister, born c. 1859, also came to Australia a couple of years later to marry Charles. Isabella attended the church at TOGHERDOO. Isabella's sister Jennie remained in Tyrone and married Samuel KIRKPATRICK. My family had contact with two of his daughters, Lottie KITKPATRICK, born 1893, and Violet STRONG, born 1905, approx 30 years ago but have since lost touch with the family. Hi, I am descended from the mysterious John McLERNON of somewhere in Ireland. He was born circa 1830 possibly in Derryloran. He may have been the son of John McLernon and Bridget Hegney who had a farm in Ardvarnish. Anyone with any info about McLernon's at all please contact me this guy is my ulitimate dead end!!! Apparently he spoke 8 languages but joined the Army (British) as a private. He ended up in Narrabri Australia and even his death has been untracable!!
