Surname: KAHNLE
Date: Wednesday, April 29, 1998 at 14:29:52

My father,JAMES JOSEPH MCNALLY emigrated from MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND right before WWI, 1916, and settled in Christian Co. Ill. His father was WILLIAM MCNALLY married to ROSE KENNEDY. There were also MCSORLEY & DICKIE branches. The men worked in the coal mines and the women worked in the textile mills. They were staunchly Roman Catholic and IRISH. I'd like to find out were in TYRONE they came from, as there was a lot of travel back and forth between Northen Irleand and Scotland as ecomomic conditions warranted.

Would like to know the hometown and departure point for my great-grandfather, Hugh Devlin, who left Ireland for the U.S. (Altoona, Pennsylvania) about 1869 with his wife, the former Margaret Powell, his 10-year-old son, James, and possibly other children. Any information would be appreciated, but I am trying to find out where to start when I visit Ireland.

Name: Sue Dopson New
Date: Sunday, April 26, 1998 at 19:21:51

My problem is that I do not know either the given name, the time frame, or the place from which my Dopson came. I think he and a brother or more came to North Carolina in 1700's. The first one that I KNOW is my ancestor is Andrew Dopson. Both from my grandfather's Bible and then I found him in 1820, 1830, 1840 in Macon Co., GA. The problem is his name is spelled Dobson. In his will, made in 1838, and filed in Tallapoosa CO., AL it is spelled Dopson. Any help on Dopsons from Ireland will be greatly appreciated. I tend to think it was Andrew's father who came from Ireland but have no clue as to go about searching. Andrew was born about 1797. I think his mother was Averilla. Sincerely, Sue Dopson New

Date: Saturday, April 25, 1998 at 11:34:09

It is my understanding that my ancestors are from County Tyrone. My last name is O'Quinn, but the name is also known as Quinn, Quin, Cuinn, O Cuinn. I am visiting there next summer and wondered if anyone might know someone or even have my surname. My Irish heritage is very important to me. Although Patrick O'Quinn came to America in 1774, our family has kept its Irish heritage fairly in tact considering that we are few in number and the most of us are in Virgina and Georgia, with some migration to Texas. In Virgina, we have married into other Irish families..this area is geographically isolated and predominately Irish. I would appreciate any info you could give me. Thanks---Tina O'Quinn

Seeking information on families of Samuel DUFF and wife Margaret MONTGOMERY DUFF, b.c. 1720-1728, married c.1744 in Ireland. Immigrated to American Colonies c.1750 or earlier. QUESTIONS: Who were the parents of Samuel DUFF and Margaret MONTGOMERY?? When and where were they married??// Another Samuel DUFF b.c. 1727, mrd. Elizabeth STEWART, c. 1750-55 in Ireland. QUESTIONS: Who were their parents?? When and where did they marry. This second Samuel DUFF died enroute to the U.S. Colonies in 1780 and was buried at sea. Believe these two Samuel's were related, possibly brothers or cousins. Any DUFF data from 1700-1760 in Ireland would be helpful in making the connection to my Irish ancestor's families. Will exchange extensive USA DUFF data with any Irish/Scottish researchers. The DUFF's believed to go back to the original DUFFUS in Scotland. Thanks. My 5th great grandmother was Ann Montgomery. She made a "runaway match" with Robert Walker. It was said that she was of Mount Alexander. Does anyone have Montgomery information to enlighten my pursuit? I have a copy of several pages frm the book "Fighters of Derry, Their Deeds and Descendants" but I need to figure out which one my line goes through. I suspect it was Hugh Montgomery, 2nd Earl of Mount Alexander due to the dates of his life. He died in 1716. Robert and Ann married sometime before 1736 when they came to America. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Bob :-)
