National Society of the
Daughters of the American Revolution


Incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1896, the NSDAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer service organization with nearly 180,000 women in some 3,000 chapters across the United States, and in nine foreign countries.

The Society was founded in Washington, D.C. on October 11, 1890, and has celebrated more than 100 years of service to the nation.

Eligibility for Membership: Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
