ABOUT
BEACON FIRE CHAPTER
Brief History:
The
Beacon Fire Chapter DAR was founded in Summit, NJ in December,
1922. The chapter takes its name from the signal fire
atop a hill "about a mile southeast of Chatham Bridge"
during the American Revolutionary War. The hill became
known as Beacon Hill. For 89 years, the chapter has worked
in the local community to advance the DAR objectives of
preserving history, providing education, and promoting
patriotism.

How to Join:
Any
woman is eligible for membership who is no less that eighteen
years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent
from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence.
She must provide documentation for each statement of birth,
marriage, and death. No Chapter may discriminate against
an applicant on the basis of race or creed.
