This is a list of sites that may be useful for genealogical research in general, and for eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey families more specifically. Contact the administrator to submit a site for inclusion on this page, to notify us of a broken link, or with other questions or comments. Let me know if you find a site useful or not. I could use some New Jersey links.
State Library of PA - click on Genealogy/Local History for information on collectons.
PA State Library Collections Guided Search - (example: type in the word newspapers in first search box. Type in the name of the
newspaper or town in the second box. Type in the name of town in the third
box, then search)
Gencircles - this site is still a free site, which is getting less common these days. You don't even have to register. Simple name lookups lead to databases of those posting to the site.
Geographic Distribution of your surname - The page is in French, but should be understandable. It leads to persons researching that family name. Type your surname into the box and find out in which countries are the greatest densities. Click on the researcher for more information. On the following page, click any links under "Ou trouver les informations?" to go to the researcher's site.
MAPS, PLACE NAMES
Topozone - at 1:25,000, topographic maps on this site will show the locations of cemeteries. A high-speed internet connection is preferable. Use the place name search in the lower left corner of the page, then click on the result for its map.
