GLOUCESTER ABBEY: DOWNTON STYLE FASHIONS
Visit our Museum now through January 6, 2016
Gloucester Abbey: Downton Style Fashions is our current exhibit at the museum – it will conclude on January 6, 2016. This comprehensive exhibit features ladies’ fashions from the time period covered by the popular PBS Masterpiece Theater series Downton Abbey. Dozens of vintage dresses and ensembles from the museum’s collection dating from 1910 through the 1930’s are showcased, including several wedding gowns. Also on display are ladies accessories, including hats, shoes, purses, jewelry, and lingerie. Some World War I memorabilia are also on display in our military room, tying into the Downton series timeline: a 1919 Red Cross uniform (courtesy of Camden County Historical Society), WWI original posters, army uniform, and examples of technology from the time period. Don’t miss this fantastic exhibit! Private tours may be booked for days/times other than our regular public hours.
