Additionally, there are numerous reference materials covering basic genealogy and other parts of the world. Donations of applicable genealogical books, etc., to the GSBC library are always welcome. The GSBC collection augments the Ridgewood Library's own impressive collection of local history and genealogy references. A file of member's pedigree charts and family group sheets is also maintained at the library. The collection is open during normal library hours. Members of the GSBC are available at the library to assist in genealogical research at prearranged times. Click here to see a schedule of hours for the coming month. Also, anyone interested in volunteering to assist at the library should please contact the Library Committee Chair.
Vertical Family Files Family Information furnished by GSBC members are maintained in File Cabinets at the Library. These generally include Family Group Records, Family Trees, and sometimes the related source material. All members are encouraged to submit Family Group Records, Family Trees, and other relevant material. Preferably, it is suggested that this information be provided as a file from your computer genealogical program (such as Family Tree Maker, Legacy, The Master Genealogist, etc.,) to expedite entry of this data into our searchable database. These files may be submitted on a floppy disk, Cd-Rom, or via e-mail. This information has been entered into a genealogy software program so that names and relationships may be easily found by just entering a name. This project has been completed, and it includes more than 65,000 names. This information will be available on CD sometime in the near future. Click here to send a message to learn how to submit your information and/or to obtain more information about this project. Speaker's Bureau Organizations, libraries, etc., who would like to have a speaker at one of their functions should contact the chairman of the Speaker's Bureau to make arrangements.
