The Girls in Blue: US Army Special Services
On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, chapter member Carolyn Bausinger presented a program on the unforgettable experience of serving as a “Girl in Blue” with the US Army Special Services Agency. The agency was organized during the early days of World War II and continued to provide recreational programming for enlisted Army personnel for over thirty years.
Thousands of young women staffed recreational service clubs, libraries, woodworking shops and photo labs in the United States, France, Germany, Korea, Vietnam and other locations around the globe. They all learned to balance the challenges of living and working on overseas military bases with the fun of living and traveling in a foreign country.

Jonas Cattell Memorial Run
The 42nd Jonas Cattell 10K Run took place on Sunday, October 23, beginning in Haddonfield and following — as closely as possible today — the Cattell route to the Red Bank Battlefield in National Park. The annual race is held to coincide with 18th Century Field Day at Red Bank. This year the event was attended by four generations of enthusiastic Cattell family descendants, as well. One descendant, Julie Cattell, was the first place female finisher in the race.
Co-Regent Margaret Hunt awarded a plaque to the first- place teenage finisher, Billy Simila, who completed the race in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Billy is a student at Gloucester Catholic High School, where he competes as a member of their cross country team.
