Our chapter members warmly welcome guests and prospective members to our meetings. If you believe you have a patriot in your family tree, or have located an ancestor who was a Revolutionary patriot, we can help you complete your research and your membership application.

Eligibility for membership

Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

Admission to membership in the NSDAR is either by invitation through a Chapter in your State Organization or Unit Overseas. No Chapter may discriminate against an applicant on the basis of race or creed.

A complete list of eligibility information is available on the NSDAR "Become A Member" page.

Beginning your research

There are several sources of of research available through the DAR.

The first resource is the Haddonfield Chapter's Patriot List. This is a small list of patriots for which Haddonfield Chapter can provide immediate assistance.

Another resource is the DAR Genealogical Reseach System (GRS) on the NSDAR web site. The GRS is a combination of several extensive genealogical databases and contains names of Revolutionary patriots, both men and women, whose service (between 1775 and 1783) has been established by the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. Additional information available may include: dates and places of birth and death, name(s) of wife (wives) or husband(s) and children, rank, type of service and the state where the patriot lived or served.

Please remember that not every Revolutionary patriot is included in this list, but only those who are ancestors of NSDAR members. A recent addition to the GRS is the ability to order and download copies online of any application(s) that you believe will help in your own research and application.

If you do not find your patriot on the list do not be discouraged. Haddonfield Chapter will be more than happy to help you research your patriot. We love helping locate lost Patriots!

Contacting Haddonfield DAR for assistance
