Need any information on Stephen H. BATTIN. He was the party of the first part in an indenture made 31 October 1890. He was listed as being "of Jersey City, County of Hudson, State of New Jersey". The parties of the second part were my great great grandparents, John E. BATTIN and Lois Ellen MURRAY BATTIN, of Gainesville, Wyoming County, New York. I assume Stephen was a relative of John's. Would like to find out what that relationship was and learn more about Stephen. Where he was born, if he married, where he died, what his occupation was, etc. I have information on Rev. John Edmund BATTIN and his descendants which I would be more than willing to share. I'm also trying to find out who Rev. John's parents were. All his obituary said was that he was born in NYC where he lived until he was 18, then he entered Nashota College at Racine, Wisconsin. He was born 18 July 1824. I would love to hear from anyone with information about BATTINs who lived in New Jersey and/or New York State.

I am looking for some records showing Mathew HARING, his wife Mariah and their family in Jersey City around 1830. The obituary for his son, Nicholas HARING, said his family moved to Jersey City when he was about 7 (1828). I understand the 1830 NJ Census is gone, but I wondered about the existence of any other records. Since there were a lot of Haring family members living in Bergen/Hudson County, they may have been living with relatives. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
