HOFFMAN posted by Henry J. Hoffman Jr on Thursday, September 11, 1997

This is a correctionh to a previously entered query.Lewis HOFFMAN, born in 1822, is living in Jersey City in 1850 census with this wife, and working as a "sea captain"; Margaret, and their two children Benjamin and Amelia. The same for the 1860 census. The 1870 census has them in the 4th district of Jersey City. Margaret is registered, so is Amelia and Benjamin(butcher) but no Lewis!!! Did he die at sea? Can anyone help me with this problem? If you know where to write in Jersey City for more information I would appreciate it. Thanks.

HOFFMAN posted by Henry J. Hoffman Jr on Thursday, September 11, 1997

Seeking information on Lewis seems that he stopped existing between the 1860 and 1870 census. He was a sea captain, so he may have been lost at sea??? Any information appreciated.
