- THEURER nee REICH
- I need some help with a request I just received from the town of Renningen, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. I have found an emigrate: Mrs. Anna Maria Theurer borne Reich from Renningen near Leonberg. She was borne in Renningen in 1854/1/29 and emigrated to USA in 1882. In time of emigration (1882) she was not yet married, her name was therefore Anna Maria Reich. At the end of the year 1933 she lived in 50 Columbia Terrace Weehawken, New Yersey, USA, and was appointed honory citizen by the district council of Renningen. The reason was, that Mrs. Theurer many years along sent money to
poor or sick people in Renningen, even she donated the bells of the church. I found her in the 1930 census living at the address given. She was 76, according to the census and widowed. A 47 year old daughter named Anna Schweizer, also was living with her as well as a niece, 22 yr. old named Marie Reich. This is all the information I have. There was a family in the 1900 census that matched fairly well but as I have no information about her husband it is difficult to say. I have no idea how long she lived in
Weehawken, she did own the $25,000 home on Columbia Terrace. Any information or suggestions on how to find more about any of these people would be much appreciated. Celia E-mail

- KOENIGSBUCH - I am looking for a relative of my late
mother who lived in the 1960s in Weehawken. His name is Rolf Simon
KOENIGSBUCH. He was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1929, was taken as a child
with his brother to England in 1939 and this is how they survived the
Holocaust (their parents perished).Through the Municipal Archive in
Hamburg I found out that in the 1960s he lived in 4702, Park Ave. in
Weehawken N.J. All my efforts to locate him through the White Pages, SSDI
and other means failed. I wonder whether you may have an idea how to trace
him. Hope to hear from you soon, Jacob Rosen E-mail
- COCHET and CARRA - I am looking for information,
suggestions, or help with regards to my great-grandmother Rose Marie
COCHET-CARR and my great-aunt Marie CARR who lived in Weehawken, New
Jersey, from 1896 until at least 1910...I am trying to find the death
records of Rose Marie COCHET or perhaps Rose Marie CARRA (if she had used
her married name to register with immigration)… She was of a member of the
Roman Catholic church… thus she would have possibly been buried in a
Catholic Cemetery in the vicinity of Weehawken, NJ… Also possibly find the
marriage records of her daughter Marie CARRA circa 1896-to1910 and/or the
death records of Marie CARRA…Your assistance in this matter would be
greatly appreciated. Rose Marie COCHET - Born 8 march 1844 at Vizille,
Isère France, Died after 1905 possibly in Weehawken, New Jersey; married
in Vizille, Isère, France to Francois Felix CARRA-CARRAT, Born 6 aug 1838
at Biviers, Isère, France, Died 15 jul 1915 at Vizille, Isère, France. On
the 23 mar 1896 Marie CARRA , a daughter of Rose Marie Cochet and Francois
Felix Carrat immigrated to the United States.. Marie Carra was born 23 feb
1871 at Vizille, Isère, France. She was 25 years old upon her arrival and
it is believed that she settled right away in the Weehawken area… On the
12 oct 1903, my great-grandmother Rose Marie COCHET-CARRA, immigrated to
the United States… She came ALONE to come live with her daughter Marie…
Rose Marie COCHET may have registered under her married name CARRA…In 1905
Rose Marie Cochet-Carra signed a legal document authorizing one of her son
to marry in France… At that time Rose Marie Cochet-Carra was living in
Weehawken, New Jersey with her daughter Marie Carra …Marie Carra married
to an American citizen who’s name is still unkown at this time… Rose Marie
died in the United States as she never returned to France after 1903…
Marie Carra had married and the couple had children... E-mail
- KENNEDY - I am trying to trace my father's Uncle, long
deceased, but he left Ireland for New Jersey I would think late 1800's but
nearer to the 1900's. The only information I have is, that he was
born in Kilkenny Ireland, his parents were Patrick Kennedy, and Anne
Dunphy, I have a feeling he was born around 1875/6/7. Sadly I dont have
his christian name only his surname, but I do know he settled in Weehawken
and worked for The Morgan Oil Company, which is no longer in
existence. He would have been a Roman catholic, and I am sure we
have distant relations in the area, which would be wonderful to
find. E-mail
- I am researching the family name Kallenbach.
Baldezar had 3 sons; William, Charles, & Oscar. Please see surnames

- My father is a retired Deputy Chief of a fire
department in Weehawken, NJ. I would like to surprise him with memoribilia
from Weehawken, including old newspaper articles he was featured in,
information on the home we lived in (and its current estimated value),
possible photos of our former home, and featured events from 1950-1970.
His name is Lawrence Michael Dillon, married to Estelle Helen Mac Pherson.
We lived at 21 48th Street, Weehawken, New Jersey. He walked or was driven
to work at a fire department nearby our home and the entrance to the
Lincoln Tunnel. We now live in Florida.... :) I appreciate your help. My
Dad has alzheimer's. Thank you very much. E-mail
- I lived in Weehawen from 1934 to 56 and attended the
elementary school at Liberty Place which was torn down to build the high
school - but where is Hamilton Place? I have relatives who lived next to
those schools- would love to know the answer! ruth - ocean nj E-mail
- Do you know if anyone has any directories of
Weehawken from the late 1890's or early 1900's??? I'm looking for
addresses for family members so I can look them up on the census. E-mail
- I am trying to locate a map showing the streets in
Weehawken Township as of 1910 and 1920. I believe that the
boundaries of Weehawken Township with the adjacent towns have changed
since the early 1900s. Also the street numbers (e.g. Sixth Street is
now 50th Street in Weehawken) and the building numbers on the north-south
avenues (Park, Palisade, etc.) have changed
concurrently to the change in street numbers. Please correct me if I
am wrong.
Specifically I am trying to 'translate' the current street numbers and building
numbers to the street and building numbers as they were when the 1910 and 1920
Census were made. The addresses that I am trying to 'translate' are as
follows:
1. 20 Sixth Street, Weehawken Township in the 1910 and 1920 Census.
Residence of two Losche cousins.
2. 520 Palisade Avenue, Weehawken Township in the 1910 Census. Could this
have been a grocery store back in
1910? If so, this store was owned by Henry C. Losche, my grandfather's
nephew.
3. Building at the southeast corner of Park Avenue and Liberty, Weehawken
Township in the 1920 Census. I believe
that this was the location of a grocery store owned by my grandfather and
operated by John and Sophie Martens.
(Current building number, I believe, is 4114 Park Ave. What would the
building number have been in 1920?)
Any help would appreciated immensely! Being out West in Colorado, I can't
find any maps to help me. E-mail
- My wife and I have lived in Weehawken for three
