Here's an interesting link for Roman Numerals: http://www.guernsey.net/~sgibbs/roman.html

For those of us that need a short reminder (myself in particular) of how to decipher Roman Numerals.

I 1   XI 11
II 2   XII 12
III 3   XIII 13
IV 4   XIV 14
V 5   XV 15
VI 6   XVI 16
VII 7   XVII 17
VIII 8   XVIII 18
IX 9   XIX 19
X 10   XX 20

That was the easy part, now for some of the really fun ones.

XXI 21   IC 99
XXIX 29   C 100
XXX 30   CI 101
XL 40   CC 200
XLVII 48   D 500
IL 49   DC 600
L 50   CM 900
LX 60   M 1000
XC 90   MDCLXVI 1666
XCVIII 98   MCMLXX 1970
      MM 2000

How did we get to 1970
M = 1000
CM = 900
LXX = 70

How about 1863 - MDCCCLXIII
M = 1000
DCCC = 800
LX = 60
III = 3

MMV = 2005
