Last revision: Dec. 29, 1998
Subject: Montoya Family. Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998. I am looking for information
regarding the MONTOYA family from Silver City. Specifically for EDWARD MONTOYA.
He was married to EUDALIA TREJO (probably late 30s early 40s). Some of their
children's names were Hector, Steve, Olivia. They moved to California and then
after a while Edward disappeared, never to be heard from again. Any information
will be appreciated. Thanks, Rita Colley colley@hop-uky.campuscw.net
Date: Sun, 20 Dec 1998. Subject: GRANT COUNTY QUERY. I am writing to inquire
about the availability of probate and property transfer records for Grant County
in the 1920's. My grandfather, Lee Charles Scott, inherited land and several
mountain properties with cabins from his mother who I believe died in the late
1920's. This is the only clue to her identity that I can trace, as I have only
her maiden name of Underwood and the fact that she remarried after my Great
Grandfather Scott died. I also know that she was a devout Baptist and that she
resided in the Silver City area for many years. My father lived with her there,
off and on, circa1909 to 1914 and told stories of seeing Pancho Via ride through
the town from his nursery window!! Probate records seem my only option. Can you
suggest how best to access them and any other resources that may come to mind?
Than you very much for your time. Janet Scott Owens janetowens@mlode.com
I seeking information regarding my Great Grandmother who lived in Silver City
circa 1905 to 1929. I know only that her maiden name was UNDERWOOD, that she was
born in Texas, circa 1850 - 1860, that her son Lee Charles SCOTT was born in
Lubbock, Texas 05/01/1883 and that she remarried after my Great Grandfather
SCOTT died. My grandfather, Lee Charles SCOTT, inherited land and several
mountain properties with cabins from her. I believe she died in the late 1920's.
I also know that she was a devout Baptist. My father lived with her, off and on,
circa 1909 to 1914 and told stories of seeing Pancho Via ride through the town

Query:RAGSDALE My grandfather, Thomas James RAGSDALE, was born in Logan Co, Ark
in
1880. His parents were John Benjamin(b.1851 Ark) Ragsdale and Nancy Ann
Underwood(b.1855 Ark). His paternal grandparents by LDS records) were
Benjamin(b.1824 TN, maybe Hickman Co) Ragsdale and Caroline(b.1826 TN) Stovall.
From other records, I believe that Benjamin's father was William (b.1782 NC) who
was next to him in 1850 Johnson Co, Ark. William's line goes back to Godfrey in
the 'Elijah Ragsdale' book by Mrs. June Hart Western. Thomas married Clara Lee
BARNES in Sequoyah Co, I.T. . about 1904. They 'separated' or 'divorced' about
1915. He joined the Army in 1918 from Groal, OK (I have not been able to find
where this was located-may be Grove?). He was in Lamar Co, TX in 1920,shown as
'divorced'. She remarried in Faulkner Co, Ark in 1918 to James Tom POTTS. He
moved to El Paso Co, El Paso, TX after 1920. Thomas died in 1943 in Grant
Co, Bayard, NM. I have researched county records and written to all nearby
counties to Sequoyah Co, OK but there seems to be no record of their marriage or
'divorce'. I am looking for descendants of Thomas's siblings: Louisa Caroline
