OUR 2009-2011 CHAPTER REGENT Cori Snobble

EL PORTAL means the "Gateway" or "Portal." Our chapter was organized by Mrs. Ralph Martin on April 18, 1931. We have 47 members and associate members from across the United States. Our resident members represent the Clovis area including the New Mexico cities of Clovis, Portales, and Floyd and Muleshoe, Texas. Our purpose is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence, promote development of an enlightened public opinion, and foster patriotic citizenship. We meet in the homes of members or in public meeting places on the second Saturday of each month from September through June. If you have any questions about the DAR requirements to join or about our chapter,

WHAT WE DO

  1. DAR has always been proud of the men and women who serve in America's military, and engages in a variety of service projects for active duty servicemen, women, and veterans.

  2. DAR supports six schools in its mission to promote education and we encourage school children to learn more about American History with essay awards and DAR Good Citizen contests.

  3. Members are encouraged to locate, transcribe, and submit original source records of a genealogical nature to the NSDAR collection. This fine collection is housed in Washington, DC, and easily accessed.

Prospective members are welcome and assistance is available in filling out membership applications.
