Our Chapter was the fourth Chapter in the State of New Mexico. The charter was received 12 October 1912 and there were 34 members. Mrs. W.H. Pope was the first Regent. The Roswell
Chapter has strived to fulfill and uphold this objective, to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion in history, education and patriotism.
We meet the first Thursday of the month, 2 p.m., from September to May, in a member's home. Every June we have a special Flag Day celebration. We cordially invite you to contact us for membership information. We would love to hear from you.WHAT WE DO 1. DAR has always been proud of the men and women who serve in America's military, and engages in a variety of service projects for active duty servicemen, women, and veterans. 2. DAR supports 6 schools in its mission to promote education. And we encourage school children to learn more about American History with essay awards and Good Citizen contests. 3. Members are encouraged to locate, transcribe, and submit original source records of a genealogical nature to the NSDAR collection. This fine collection is housed in Washington, DC, and easily accessed. Prospective members are welcome and assistance is available in filling out Membership applications.
