On November 9, 1972, at a dinner
at the historic
Wortley Hotel in Lincoln, Sierra Blanca Chapter of the NSDAR was
organized as the sixteenth chapter of the New Mexico Daughters of the
American Revolution. The name Sierra Blanca was chosen because Sierra
Blanca Peak dominates the landscape in the area, seeming to challenge
all to reach for ever-higher goals. Our meetings are held on the third
Thursday of the month, 11:30 p.m., September to May.
We
cordially invite you to contact
us
if you are interested in membership information or attending a meeting.
WHAT WE DO
1. DAR has always been proud of the men and women who
serve in
America's military, and engages in a variety of service projects for
active duty servicemen, women, and veterans.
2. DAR supports 6 schools in its mission to promote
education, and we encourage school children to learn more about
American History with essay awards and Good Citizen contests.
3. Members are encouraged to locate, transcribe, and
submit
original source records of a genealogical nature to the NSDAR
collection. This fine collection is housed in Washington, DC, and
easily accessed.
Prospective members are welcome and assistance is
available in filling out membership applications.
