WELCOME TO NEW MEXICO

Spanish Task Force

The Spanish Task Force was formed in 1998 during the Love Administration. The objectives of the Task Force are:

  • To locate documentation relating to Spanish contributions to the American Revolution
  • To identify Spanish nationals who contributed to the Revolutionary cause
  • To assemble lists of Spanish patriots
  • To compile a bibliography of source material relating to Spain and the American Revolution
  • To locate records in Archives outside of the United States, especially in Spain, Mexico, and Cuba

Assistance is needed in the following locations: Spain, Mexico, Cuba, and the states where the Spanish had the largest presence; namely: Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Colorado.

Volunteers who are interested in working on the Spanish Task Force should contact the Task Force chairman Molly Fernandez. A knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not essential. A phrase book has been prepared which can be distributed to those interested in volunteering.

We hope to expand our membership base to include the many women who have Spanish ancestry. You can be a part of this exciting project!!
