Valle Grande

DO YOU HAVE A PATRIOT ANCESTOR? Please contact us for any assistance in your research.

Our chapter was scheduled to be organized 12 April 1975 but Mother Nature had other ideas. That morning, we were deluged with 35 inches of snow, and, with the approval of NSDAR, the organizational meeting was postponed until April 17. The Organizing Regent was Phyllis B. Norman with fourteen organizing members. Phyllis was our State Regent 1998-2000. We believe that Valle Grande is a particularly appropriate name, as Los Alamos is located on tree-shrouded mesas that reach out from the beautiful Valle Grande Caldera in the Jemez Mountains to the west. Los Alamos is home to the world famous Los Alamos National Laboratory. We have consistently aimed toward fulfilling the creed of "God, Home, and Country." You are cordially invited to contact us for membership information.

WHAT WE DO

1. DAR has always been proud of the men and women who serve in America's military, and engages in a variety of service projects for active duty servicemen, women, and veterans.

2. DAR supports 6 schools in its mission to promote education, and we encourage school children to learn more about American History through essay awards and Good Citizen contests.

3. Members are encouraged to locate, transcribe, and submit original source records of a genealogical nature to the NSDAR collection. This fine collection is housed in Washington, DC, and easily accessed.

Prospective members are welcome and assistance is available in filling out membership applications.
