Steve and the Conklin List:
Conklin Mann's papers are not to my knowledge "in legal limbo" but are in
the possession of the Suffolk County Historical Society at Riverhead, LI.
In the mid-70's, some folks from Suffolk Hist. Soc. went to North Carolina
and got Mann's papers from his heirs and hauled them off in a truck back
to Riverhead. [I got that story direct at the time from people at Suffolk
Hist. Soc.] They didn't have them available to the public for a number of
years since they were not cataloged. Since I haven't worked at Riverhead
in quite a number of years, I don't know the present situation.
If they are in "legal limbo" maybe Steve can let us know what's happened?
I saw part of the collection [private favor ... since I had donated lots
of Huntington Conklin info to the Society] ... unbelievable mountain of
information. Too bad the TAG series was not carried forward.
