This is a _very_ long shot, but I'd like to hear from anyone with info
about a BURKE in the Utica NY, area who ran a Coal and Lumber business
there around the turn of the century.

Family tradition has it that my g-GF, Thomas BURKE (b. c1832 in Ireland,
d. 1888 in NYC), who lived in NY City and later on Staten Island, had a
brother or half-brother as described above. If a full brother, he would
have been born in Ireland around 1830; if a half-brother, he would have been
born
in the USA about 1850.

His first name _may_ have been Robert or Richard but this is very suspect.
It is likely, but not certain, that his father's name was Miles BURKE.

Regards,
Charles Sullivan cwsulliv@nr.infi.net
