Dear fellow New York researchers:

I'm hoping someone can help me with a name I have been searching for over
20 years! Enoch WINSLOW and his wife, Fanny, (maiden name unknown) were
in Bennington, Genessee County (f/k/a Wymoming Co) NY in 1818 at the time
their first son, Enoch Marcellus WINSLOW was born.

Enoch purchased property in Bennington in 1835 and sold the same property
in 1846. I have copies of the Deeds.

In "Wyoming County History 1880, by Beers, pg 157, it is tated that Enoch
and Fanny Winslow are listed among the first (founding) members of the
Universalist Church in Cowlesville, Wyoming Co., NY in 1844.
Correspondence from the county historian states that the church has been
closed down for over 85 years. Universalist Church history
(Andover-Harvard Theological Library) has no record of this church.

Also from Beer's History of Wyoming County, N.Y., 1841-1880, pg 151,
Enoch Winslow was appointed as one of the school commissioners at the
first Bennington town meeting in 1818.

"Historical Wyoming," Vol 21, No. 2, Pg 57: 1820 Federal Census lists
Enoch Winslow living in Bennington.

According to the 1820 Census above mentioned, and an 1850 Census for
Plato Twp., Kane Co., Illinois, Enoch and Fanny were both born in
Vermont. He would have been born approximately 1792 and she
approximately 1797.

Children born to them were:
Enoch Marcellus Winslow born 1 July 1818, Bennington, Genessee Co., NY
Lucy Ann Winslow born ca 1828 in New York
Alvah A. Winslow born ca 1832 in New York
Olive L. Winslow born ca 1836 in New York
Warren S. Winslow born ca 1839 in New York
Charles Winslow born ca 1842 in New York
There may also be another daughter named Ellen.

According to an obituary notice (paper unknown) found in a Family Bible
of Quartus Winslow Clapp, last known to be int he possession of Mrs.
Bertha Clapp, now deceased, Enoch Winslow died at the home of his son in
McHenry, IL 23 January 1864.

I would like to find out where and when Enoch WINSLOW (middle initial may
have been A.) was born, what Fanny's maiden name was, where and when she
was born, and would like to know more about their children. Enoch
Marcellus was my great-great grandfather so I do have a lot of
information about him, including almost all of his descendants.

If anyone can give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated - and I'll
be glad to exchange any information I have on this family of course.

Please reply at either one of the two e-mail addresses in my signature
line or snail mail if you wish.

Thank you so very much.

Doryl
