The address that Marc Nozell gave for the Livingston Co. Gen. Society
is correct except that the Pres. is Major Barry; ie.:
Livingston Co. Genealogical Society
c/o Major Lyman F. Barry
9297 Shaw Rd.
Route 1
Box 313
Nunda, NY 14517
Also for Livingston County, you should write to the Livingston County
historian. She has a small library with some genealogical charts and a file
for all the old burials in the County. The address:
Livingston Co. Historian
30 Center St.
Geneseo, NY 14454.
The Tri-Town Gen. Soc. has files for the Towns of Pittsford, Perinton
and East Rochester. The current address is:
Tri-Town Genealogical Society
Fratt Memorial Library
901 Main St.
East Rochester, NY 14445
The Kodak Genealogical Society doesn't answer queries.
Rochester Historical Society (485 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14607)
claims that they don't have genealogical files. I've been down in
their library and they really do. They just don't like answering
genealogical requests. It's a real shame!
Lastly... The address that Marc Nozell posted for the Rochester
Genealogical Society is about 10 yaesr old. Mrs. Andrus died about 6 years
ago and that address was for her home. I am the membership person for the
RGS. I will answer short questions via e-mail but be aware I am ALWAYS
behind. If you have web access then you can see the RGS home page at:
http:/www.vivanet.com/~halsey/rgs.html
Once there you will find a index to our genealogical charts that we have on
the computer. If you find a name(s) that you are interested in then you can
send me a e-mail message and I send back a family group sheet in a message
with the name of the persona that gave us the original data. If you don't
have web access then you can use the trusty US mail. The current RGS address
is:
P.O. Box 10501
Rochester, NY 14610-0501
RGS rents space for meetings and doesn't maintain a library. It takes
a while for anyone to answer mail from the PO Box.
