I'm a reporter with The Times, a Gannett newspaper in Shreveport, La.
(I have a ton of ancestors -- 14 generations worth -- in Albany,
Renssalaer, Montgomery and Cattaraugus Counties) and will be doing a
story at some point on county historians. It is unusual to have such
folks down here, where we have parishes. Bossier Parish here, just
across the Red River from us, just appointed its first historian. I'd
like to talk to a few historians up there to find out A) how they are
insinuated in their positions under state and local laws and B) how
their effectiveness is judged by the officials with whome they have
to work. Could you suggest a few folks for me to talk to? Thanks! I
can be reached via a toll-free number, (800) 462-6436, ext. 264.
Please feel free to give it to anyone you see fit.
Again, thanks!
John Andrew Prime (family name originally Dutch: Pruyn.)
