GEN-NYS-L: Surname origin

I would appreciate it if someone could give me the origin of the surname
Shambo/Shambeau, my local library has little on surnames especially U.S.A.
names, and just for interest all Crandell's in Australia are related and
descend from a Charles Henry Crandell son of George Crandell and Amelia Turf
Woolwich U.K. I mention this because Crandell/Crandall appears to be a
popular name in the U.S. thankyou Des (Australia)
