The first thing you should do is write or call the cemetery and have them
send you a burial list for the plot. Holy Cross appears to keep very good
records from my experience, and doesn't charge for the burial list. From
this you will get the ages and burial dates of everyone buried there. It's
quite possible a "MODERA" (sounds like a surname) is in fact buried there
but nobody bothered to have the DOD inscribed on the headstone.
Now, I've looked up Mary WIESE in the Social Security Death Index and find
133-18-3686 WIESE, MARY b. 3/8/1913 SSN issued in NY State d. 4/1977
RZIP = 11218, PZIP = 11213 Residence: NY
Both ZIP codes are in Brooklyn. Write off to the SSA and get a photocopy
of her SS-5 Application for SSN which will list her parents. Then you
can work from the 1920 census backwards.
