Try to locate a copy of "Staten Island and its People" by Leng and Davis,
publ around 1930 in 2 volumes.

Many original sources will be found at the Staten Island Historical Society
Library, 441 Clarke Ave, Staten Island, NY 10306. 718-352-1611. The Library
is only open Monday and Tuesday and is not equipped to do extended research,
but can probably suggest a researcher or perform an initial search for a
small fee if you're not able to go there yourself.
