To all who replied to my question about the meaning of "Democrat waggon",
thank you.
I enjoyed reading your replies, and you also reminded me to use the
dictionary even if
I don't think the term is going to be there. Here are the replies:

BOB AND JANICE:
In reply to your inquiry, my grandmother would say "We took the Democrat to
town". It was a "buggy type " convveyance, usually with no top.
Drawn by a horse of course. Usually only one. My grandmother was born
in1844 in Indiana. Hope this helps you some.

My Webster's Universal Unabridged Dictionary defines a democrat wagon as
follows:

"a high, light-weight, horse-drawn wagon, usually having two seats."

Why it's called that, it didn't say. Thanks for asking the question and
helping me learn something new today!

>-------Dear Bob:
A democrat was probably one of the more popular forms of wagons. They could
hook up one, sometimes two horses to them. They consisted of sort of an
open flat bed wagon with four wooden spoke wheels and they had a bench seat
going across the front. Youve seen these if you have ever watched a
"western" movie, and Ive even seen them on the show "Dr.Quinn, Medicine
Woman."

According to Webster's Unabridged Dictionary:

"Democrat wagon, a high, lighteight, horse-drawn wagon, usually having two
seats."

No information is offered as to the origin of the term.

I'm fairly sure that a "Democrat waggon" is a standard wagon ment to be
pulled by donkeys. Smaller harness and trap to fit the smaller profile of a
donkey, rather
than a horse. The double g in wagon is to simbolize the uselessness of the
political
thought process: As in G, I didn't know people cared about this; or G isn't
it amazing
anyone voted for our line of non-specific excretement. Max

It was the wagon of/for the people, a sort of Volkswagen of its day.

It meant that he didn't drink. Republicans were are showing up drunk in
