My 3ggrandfather was Silas Harvey Sr. b. 1795 probably New England, d. 1862
Crawford Co. Pa. He was inducted into Capt. Fillmore's Co. in Oct. 1813. He
reported to Black Rock and from there went north to Fort Niagara. He
volunteered to cross over and occupy Fort George. In Dec. 1813 he was
mustered out at Buffalo a few days before the British burned it. He is our
oldest proven ancestor. Also in the area at the time were Joshua Harvey b.
ca 1761 d. 1849, James Harvey b. 1763 d .Jan. 1813 in an epidemic along with
his wife, Caleb Harvey b. 1782 still alive in Alden Twp. in 1855, James
Harvey b. 1791 d. 1855 Lapeer Mi., and Christopher Harvey b. ca 1791 m.
Portia Ransom oldest child of Asa Ransom. Joshua, Caleb, and both James'
bought land within 3 mi of one another, from The Holland Land Co. in S.W.
Newstead and N. W. Alden Twp. areas of Erie Co. before 1820. Silas left the
area for Crawford Co. Pa. probably right after his discharge. At any rate he
was in Conneaut Twp. Crawford Co. Pa. by 1820. I believe other allied
families in the are were Locke, Stedman and Sherman.
Looking for any help on these people.
