Not much is known about James S. Wells, not even the county in which he lived
and he may have gone back and forth. Sally was the daughter of William Van
Buren who is "presumed" to the son of Harmon Van Buren, but while he is listed
in a birth register, he does not get a mention in the Will. His brother, Peter,
is also not mentioned. Either a page was missing from the will or these two
brothers fueded with the step mother or they were given sufficient land before
the will was written. I believe the courthouse for Mayfield and Montgomery
counties is in Fonda. I wondered if anyone was researching there and could
perhaps find out more about James S. Wells and his wife and their connection to
Harmon Van Buren.
