Rooters,

I am searching for my Jabish Brown, b. 1778.

His marriage to Kitturah Brown was the first to occur in Pharsalia, NY.=20
In 1800, Jabish Brown and Benjamin Brown (not related) came to
Pharsalia. He came from Stonington, CT; worked one season, returned to
Stonington, CT. In late fall, returned to Pharsalia on horseback. Info
also from History of Chenango County, p. 424. No mention of him in
Wheeler=92s =93History of Stonington=94 and nothing in Barbour records.

I took picture of gravestone in Pharsalia Center Cemetery.Tombstone says
he was a Major and grave has a Rev. War marker. How could this be if he
was born in 1778? War of 1812?

"Quill and Press; Notes from N. Pharsalia Newspapers=94 says he was
supervisor of Pharsalia and he held other offices in the town. He died
Oct 30, 1847, aged 69 years. History of Chenango County , p. 423 says
that Nehemiah and wife, Rebecca died at home of their son-in-law,
Jabish, in 1824 and 1831.

This is not the Jabish Brown, b. 1765 in Stonington, who married Abigail
Babcock nor is it their son Jabish, b. 1806 in Brookfield NY, who
married Selina Davis.

I have been searching for a long time and would appreciate any help.
