In 1860 census, A George W Lewis is in Allegan Co.
MI. He is in Leighton TWP, but I doubt that it is the George
of Hillsdale Co. This George is only 42 b. NY, meaning he
would have had to have Been born in 1818 and only 22 in 1840.
His death cert confirms the age and states that he is a son of Eben K.
Lewis.
Eben K. Lewis also died in Leighton, Allegan
Co. on Sep 16, 1872. No parents are listed on the
death cert and he was born 1800. On the 1840 census's,
he is in Genesee Co, NY, with Calvin Lewis and Eleazer
Lewis.

In the 1860 census, George W. Lewis's wife is Eliza, age 39
born in NY. An ELiza Lewis died in July 17, 1870 and
the death cert gives her age as 43 or 48. See Census.
48-10-16. would be almost 49, If 48, that would
place her birthdate at about the right time frame. Her
parents are listed as John and Nancy Goodspeed. It might
explain why county histories state George W. Lewis came
to Leighton TWP in 1845 with John Goodspeed. George
purchased land in Sec 34, but John did not purchase any
according to the history. John Goodspeed was elected
Constable in 1848, along with Philitus Woods. (Note:
Philitus Woods was living with Lyman Chaffee in 1850
census of Allegan Co and is located in the large gap
between Lyman Chaffee and the Various Lewis families.

In the 1850 census of Allegan, there is a George F. Lewis 33
With wife Eliza age 28 - consistant with 48 in 1870. With
him is Warren Lewis, age 23 all born NY. Warren is still
in Allegan in 1860, 25 households away from Philitus Woods,
Born VT. In 1850, Philitus is from NY.
