Sorry to post to the list, my fingers got itchy and I erased an address.
For the person who asked about the name Rockwell in one of the NY counties in
the Southern Tier, my Rockwells hailed from CT, progenitor was John R. (not
deacon William of the Mary & John), down through a couple of Jonathans, etc.
Finally, Hannah Rockwell came across the Hudson, married Cornelius Hopper and
they came west to settle first in Chemung Co., then afterward west to settle
permanently in Allegany Co. I have a feeling, though not supported by fact,
that several Rockwells made the move along with Hannah & Cornelius, at least
as far as Chemung.
