Fort Schuyler is on Throggs Neck, which is located in the Bronx at the
juncture of Long Island Sound and the East River. The State University of
New York Maritime College is located there. At this time, it contains
classrooms, the library, offices, and a maritime museum. When I was a
student there (1952-1956), part of it was used as the Freshman dorm. In
more recent years, they built the Throggs Neck Bridge over the top of it.
In 1758 Fort Schuyler was erected on the south bank of the Mohawk River and
named in honor of Col. Peter Schuyler. This is near Utica N.Y.
According to a book I have, The Story of Old Saratoga byJohn Henry =
Brandow pubilshed in 1919, Fort Schuyler was formerly called Fort =
Stanwix and is located where Rome NY now stands. Hope this helps.
