My problem is similar to that of Carol Swinehart, posted (much) earlier
today. I am searching for an ancestor in the 1855 New York State Census,
living at W. 28th Street, according to the 1854-5 City Directory.
Is there a way to narrow down the search in Ward 20 to the District or house
number? The microfilm record is very poor in places and it may be easy to
miss the needed record.
I would appreciate any help from those used to working with these records.
