Looking for ancestors/descendants of John NEWMAN and Mary Ann GARRITY. It
was believed that John's father married a MORAN.
Their children were:
Agnes [Joe(Tom) HUMMEL]
John (Bella MORGAN)
Ella (John JOHNSTON)
Mabel (HELDER & LENARD)
George -unmarried-died 1914.
Walter b 11/7/1880 NYC (Katherine COLGAN b 4/5/1882 NYC, d 4/13/1972 Alden,
NY)-my gparents- also lived in Niagara Falls (1915) and Buffalo, NY.
At some point, Walter changed his name to Mike FARRELL. Approximately 1935
or 1936, his body was found in Spuyten Duyvil Creek or Sputen Duval in NYC.
(The Dutch said, "to cross it was to spite the devil.") His body was in
there about three weeks. I have no further information on his death.
Later, my grandmother changed her name and the rest of her children back to
NEWMAN. I have much information on Walter and Katherine, and their
descendants, but am stuck in locating information on siblings or ancestors.
