Tried to send this to you via private E-mail, first to the "present" address -
returned undeliverable. Re-tried it to the new address, same result. Soooo....
sorry to clutter up the "list", but here's what I have....
Hi Penny:
I'll get this right out, and maybe it will connect with your old address.
I know how I feel when things foul up with my computer and it happens often. I
sometimes wish I had never gotten involved with one!!<g> I can't imagine how
I let that communication on Jonathan Camp get away from me - it is so
annoying. I was sure I saw it on the NYS list, but if you haven't seen one in
the past few days, then maybe I saw it on the compuserve genealogy forum?
"My Camps" were scattered around. My earliest information IS Jonathan Camp and
I have no dates or other information, except this information from page 73 of
the Overton Twp. PA history......
"Jonathan Camp came from eastern Bradford (I assume Bradford Co. PA) in 1853,
purchased and occupied a portion of the Paine tract. He had a family of seven
stalwart sons. Three, Reuben, Henry and Levi were soldiers in the Civil War,
Henry and Levi losing their lives. In the 1860's Mr. Camp moved to Illinois
with his family."
I have no other information or dates, except that his children, in order (?)
were: Rubin, Henry, Levi, Matthew, Lucius, George and John. Rubin (and for the
first time I have noticed the two different spellings of Rubin - I'll have to
check that out) was born 27 Oct 1834 at Sesquehanna County, PA, on 20 Jun 1851
married Rosina Heverly at Elmira NY, died White Rock, MO, 14 Feb 1917. Why
they were married in Elmira, I have no idea (guess that's Chemung Co.?) as
Rosina was from a large well known family, Heverly, (or Hevely), also from the
Overton, PA area - I have a lot of Heverly information.
Rubin had 6 children - in order: Albert Leonard, b 21May1853; Hester A., b 11Jun
1855, m. John W. Molyneux; Burton W., b 14Jan1859, d 27Dec 1879; Betsy M. b
25May1861 in Overton TWP, Bradford Co., PA, m. George W. Dulaff 04Jul1877 at the
Reformed Church Parsonage in Grahamsville, Sullivan Co., NY, d 17Jun1932 at
Napanoch, Ulster Co., NY; Minnie R. Camp, b 16Feb1863; Maggie A. Camp.
George W. Dulaff and his wife, Betsy Camp, were my maternal great grandparents.
They lived most of their adult lives in Ladleton, Township of Denning, Ulster
Co., NY.
As you can see, there wasn't a lot of connection between "my Camps" and NY
state. I hope there is something here that "connects" for you. If so, let me
know and I'll dig a little deeper - give you my references and anything else I
have. In the meantime, I sure would like to make that other connection, because
it said something about Jonathan Camp in PA....... I was sure it was on this
list, because I wondered why it was posted here - if he was from PA? Guess
I'm getting senile! <g>
