Ronda,
I am trying to find information about a David Brewer who lived in the
Mohawk Valley just east of the Schoharie Creek. His house was in Schoharie
Crossing State Historic Site, on the south side of the Mohawk River east of
Fort Hunter. I think the house where he lived was built about 1780. David
Brewer purchased the property from John Cameron in 1828. The property
previously had been owned by Coll McGregor, who seems to have obtained it
when Loyalist Sir John Jonson lost his property in the Revolution. The
Hutchinson Canal Map of the 1830s in the State Archives clearly shows the
house. David Brewer sold the property in 1844 to Gerrit V. Putman.
This is about all I know, but there is surely some connection with your
names because Cameron sold this house to Brewer! Is this of help to you, and
can you help me further identify David Brewer?
