I had a Patterson family I was trying to research, my wife's g-g-g
grandmother, Lizzie Patterson. Turns out her real name was Eliza Ann
Pattison. There's a large Pattison family in NY, many of which were
born in Troy. I have a book at home done by a Pattison descendant,
and I will look your Pattison/patterson up. Lizzie's grandson did
some family genealogy and he had her name as Patterson, and the book
says they were used interchangeably. I will get back with you.

I'm looking for information on Elsie Patterson who was in Troy, NY when she
gave birth to a son, Grover Patterson, in 1885. (no birth on record at City
or State)

In 1888 she was living in Buffalo, NY, when she left 3 year old Grover at
the Buffalo Orphan Asylum. She was described in those records as a widow,
living at 45 Chestnut St. and employed as an engraver.

She is not listed in the Buffalo City Directory.

She is not listed in Soundex of 1900 for NY, nor could I find her as wife
Elsie, in Soundex of 1880 for NY.

Can anyone suggest another line of research to follow? (Grover is my father)
