Genealogical Legacy

What suggestions do other researchers have for making sure a
collection of genealogical research will continue to be useful to others in
the future? I come from a family that has been doing family research for
years. My great-great-grandmother began the research around the turn of the
century and every generation has carried it on. As a result, I have a huge
amount of material on a variety of families. I am also a genealogical
publisher with huge amounts of information that I have generated over the
past few years (my specialty is Washington Co., NY).
I cannot have children so have no descendants to give this
information to. My sister has no children. My only niece thinks what I do is
"stupid." Where do I put this "stuff" so others can benefit from it? Not
that I'm planning on going "anywhere" for at least 40 years (I'm only 40!!),
but every so often, I wonder where the best place would be for my work. I
wonder if any of you have the same question or have, perhaps, some good
suggestions.
