Hoping to make a connection. Willing to share/trade information on this
line.

James Fitch was the son of another James and his wife Polly. This James
died 9 September 1840 and was a soldier of the Revolution, according to his
gravestone; his wife died 7 November 1858, aged 79. Both are buried in the
French Cemetery just south of Rushville in the town of Potter, NY. The
Fitches however always lived in Middlesex. James Sr did leave an estate;
he was survived by his widow, his son James Fitch, and three daughters:
Freelove (who was still single in 1840, though she eventually married a
George Fenton), Charlotte, who married Nathaniel Loomis. James Jr always
told the census takers that he was born in Essex Co., NY, which is adjacent
to the VT line. In 1880 he said both his parents were born in CT. His
wife was born in Steuben Co., NY. Index of the 1800 Essex Co., census
shows a James Fitch on the same page with a Nathaniel Fitch in the same age
group.

Thank you,
Bonnie
