There are two very old Episcopal Churches in that area. St. John's In
Huntington and one in Cold Spring Harbor as well(can't remember that
one's name but it is right across from the lab where Watson and Crick did
their DNA work; a little trivia for 'ya). Maybe you can find out
somthing about your Conklins in those church records or in the local
historical society.

P.S. I was married in St. John's; it's a lovely old church; had a fire a
number of years ago and my 1969 marriage record was burned! I think,
however, that the older records are stored in a safer place.
