I've got a couple comments and a couple questions.
There were 424 folks recieving pensions in Clinton County. the
pensions ranged from $1 to $72. Most common (after the various
wounds) was the $8 allowance for Dependent mothers (and dependent
fathers!) There were also 22 widows, and 22 survivors of the war of
1812.
My two favorite folks were;
Joseph B. Blow of Ellenburgh Center who was recieving a pension for, of
course, "dis. lungs"; and Betsey Pike, who was, of course, a widow.
Now my major questions.
If anyone is familiar with the process of the original compilation of
these lists, I'd love to talk about it. There is no mention of it in the
Baltimore book, and a researcher who copied the originals couldn't find
anything that told what the source was. (i.e. were they sent from each
post office, county, state....?)
There is a page of errata in the Baltimore Gen Pub. book, which says
that Bedford, Clinton County should be Bedford, Westchester, County. I
can't find out how they compiled these lists, but wonder how that mistake
could be made. These are the 'Bedford' names. does anyone have these in
REDFORD, in 1880?

Brill, Fred'k W.;Burden, Florinda; Cannon, Samuel; Cannon, Wm. R.;
Dubray, Peter; Fournier, Mary; Glazier,Abigail S.; Gonyea, Lucy; Gorban,

The same with Sparrowbush--- does anyone recognize these folks;

William; Wetherwax,Amy; Craig, John; Dearman, Michael; Lewis, James;
Thompson, Henry A.; Benway,Washington; Jones, Betsey; Danford, Jane;
Vansickle, Wm. C.
Many of these surnames are common Clinton County names, but I haven't
got any Clinton County resources at my desk. I'd like to confirm that
they were Clinton County folk before I send the database to John.
thanks
