Pat, Hear Hear, I couldn't have said it better. I would add that the
same thing goes when writing to individuals who do research.
Additionally I often deliberately put in some wrong information that the
receiver knows is wrong and would want to correct, like a death date for
a grandparent.

I get a zillion requests for help with genealogy, the ones that get
answered first have simple questions, an SASE and usually a check.

I do not answer, please research surname, surname, surname, surname, in
your vicinity. Nor do I answer twice people who promise to reimburse
expenses, then don't.
