Seeking any information about New York families named FETTERLY (also
Vetterly, Vetterlie, Vatterly). My fifth-great grandfather Peter FETTERLY
was born in Montgomery County about 1774, had most of his children near
Germann Flatts, Herkimer, NY, and later relocated to Jefferson County, NY,
along with many of his children, including my fourth-great grandmother,
Laney (Fetterly) STARRING. Peter's father, Henry VATTERLY, died in the
Battle of Oriskany in 1777. The Oriskany record found at the Oriskany
Historical Society is the only record I have found on his service. (The DAR
doesn't even list him).
Any info much appreciated.
