I just got some great news! My brother was going through some trunks in my
mother's attic that belonged to my grandmother. In one of the trunks was a
bible that belonged to our GGgrandfather, Edson Stanley Curtis! Edson lists
his grandfather as Comfort! Now to find out which Comfort Curtis! Anybody
out there with a Comfort in their data?
Spencer L. CURTIS b 28 Nov 1819 and d 12 Mar 1872 in Middlebury, Wyoming
Co, NY. He was married to Augusta A. Unknown who was b 18 Oct 1821 and d 30
Aug 1886 Middlebury, NY. Comfort is Spencer's father.
They had three sons, Edson Stanley CURTIS b 5 Jan 1844 Middlebury, NY & d 28
Nov 1875 in Beloit, WI, married to Elsie Ann SUMMERS 4 Oct 1871 in IA,
Charles John CURTIS b 5 Nov 1849 in Middlebury, NY and died 21 Dec 1875, and
Frank Mill CURTIS b 18 Sept 1860 & d 15 Sept 1935 in Canandaigua, NY &
married Ella STODDARD.
Could Augusta A's maiden name be Edson? There are mentions of people with
the last name Edson in the bible, but doesn't list connections. Also, the
Askin name is mentioned. All from New York.
I do know that Edson's daughter, Sarah, had an uncle named Tom Askins. Tom
had a daughter named Esther that was b bef 1839.
Also, is there anyone who can check the 1840 or 1850 census for a Comfort?
I have part of the 1850 census for New York, but it starts at the E's.
Do any of these ring a bell with anybody?
