I have collected quite a bit on the BROWNELL families of Steuben County
in search of my wife's Brownell ancestry. She is descended from Polly
Brownell (b. 1836 in Steuben Co.), a daughter of Oliver Brownell (1809-1875).
Oliver married Nancy --- (born 1810) in Genesee County. Oliver was born in
Seneca or Wayne County. They were in Prattsburgh, Steuben County, by 1825.
I do not see any Humpfrey Brownell in this family, however.
I would like to know Oliver Brownell's parents and Nancy's family.
Oliver Brownell might have been a son of Job Brownell (born in Rhode island
in 1784), who in the 1850 census is shown as a neighbor of Oliver's in
Prattsburgh.
